Aamir Khan Opens Up on Choosing Films With Social Issues: "I Broke Every Rule..."_我的网站

A |     Aamir Khan's vast filmography mostly comprises films with a moral or a social message. When asked about choosing scripts that resonate on a societal level, Aamir shared that he does not choose films or scripts based on popularity or conventions. The actor emphasised on how important it is for him to admire a script before agreeing to be associated with it.          During a conversation at IFFI 2025, Aamir said, "I choose films purely based on my emotional excitement for the story, even if it goes completely against the norm. Most of my decisions have been impractical by industry standards. When we made Lagaan, even Javed Saab advised us not to. By all logic, I shouldn't have become a star, I broke every rule. But somehow, those unconventional choices connected with people and I'm deeply grateful."He further added, "Whether it's Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots, Dangal or Laapataa Ladies, the foundation was laid by the writers. They created the worlds and the characters; I simply gravitated towards scripts that moved me.The actor also spoke highly of late star Dharmendra. "Though hailed as the He-Man of Indian cinema, he was equally brilliant in all genres including, romance, comedy and drama, an actor of remarkable range and presence. He was a gentle giant and finest actor. His mastery of language, innate dignity and extraordinary range as an artist made him an institution in himself. His passing is a profound personal and artistic loss," Aamir added.          However, when asked if he would don the hat of a director Aamir said that he is delaying the same as he loves acting. "Direction is actually my big love. Filmmaking is what I enjoy the most. I did direct once, but that was more out of a crisis, so it doesn’t really count as a planned move. But the day I consciously decide to take up direction, I’ll probably stop acting, because it will consume me completely. That’s why I’m delaying that decision for now," the star replied.ALSO READ: When Shah Rukh Khan Spoke About Aamir Khan‘s Acting Skills。    Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment has responded to Sameer Wankhede's defamation suit over a scene in Aryan Khan's show The Ba***ds of Bollywood. They claimed that while the show depicts an overzealous officer, it does not reference the Cordelia cruise case. IRS officer Sameer Wankhede pleaded in the Delhi High Court seeking an interim injunction on Aryan Khan's series. Responding to Wankhede's claims, senior advocate Neeraj Kishan Kaul, appearing for Red Chillies said that satire and fiction can co-exist.     "Can satire and fiction co-exist? There is no law that it cannot co-exist. I may be partly inspired by real persons and stories, yet there can be disclaimers, no problem with two existing together. Where is the ill-will or malice? This is about a success story in a Bollywood party. We are not looking at people who are sensitive; hurt is not ground for malice. Can you pick a stray instance, a passage here or there? The series is about 20 different issues. We do not show a documentary on the Cordelia cruise incident. I am inspired by overzealous officers. That is far from saying that this is the Cordelia cruise story."          For the uninitiated, in 2021, Wankhede who was with the Narcotics Control Bureau, arrested Aryan Khan from the Cordellia cruise over a drugs case. However, Khan's name was cleared later, and he was released from jail. In his show, there is a scene where an inspector from a fictional anti-narcotics agency arrests an actor over a false drug case. Wankhede argued that the officer shown in the show resembles him and urged that the scene should be removed from the show.     Taking a dig at Wankhede, advocate Kaul also argued that Wankhede loves giving interviews to the media and spoke about the issues after the show released.          He continued, "You cannot say that the person depicting ills in Bollywood cannot show overzealous officers. I cannot be responsible for what other people say… I am fully entitled to depict issues ailing Bollywood. Even if I am to project someone, a public official cannot be that thin-skinned. Even if I portray you unjustly it is still not a case. Every scene in this show is exaggerated. I am not ridiculing him or the emblem.
